Angola Flag flagsoftheworld
The flag of Angola came into use on November 11, 1975. The Angola flag has remained controversial. The flag is split horizontally into an upper red half and a lower black half. The Angola flag is a modification of the ruling party's flag. The red is for the blood spilt by Angolans during their independence struggle, while the black represents the African continent. The crossed cog wheel in the middle stands for workers and industry, while the machete represents the peasantry with a red star. The flag of Angola was adopted at the time of Marxist government and hence resembles the symbol of Communism.
