The flag of Antigua and Barbuda was adopted on February 27, 1967 and was designed by the teacher of a school named Reginald Samuels. The Antigua flag has an inverted isosceles triangle on the top edge with three horizontal bands of different colors. The sun in the Antigua flag represents dawning of a new era. The colors in the flag have different meanings. The red color represents energy of the people, blue is for hope and black represents African ancestry. The V shape stands for victory and the overall combination of yellow, blue and white represent the sun, sand and sea of this Caribbean island nation.
