The Cuba Flag was officially hoisted on May 20, 1902 as a symbol of sovereignty after it got independence from American rule. The Cuban flag is known as ÏLone StarÓ. The overall design has been inspired by the U.S. flag. The blue stripes of the Cuba flag refer to the three old divisions of the Cuban island, the two white stripes stand for the ideal of independence and the red triangle stands for equality, fraternity and freedom and also for the blood split in their struggle for independence. The single star signifies the absolute freedom among the people. The flag of Cuba has inspired the flags of many other countries.
