Originally launched by Microcell Solutions Inc. in 1996, Fido offers Personal Communications Services (PCS) and wireless data services in major centres across Canada. Fido has been a subsidiary of Rogers Wireless Inc. since November 2004.

Fido is the brand of digital wireless services offered by Fido Solutions Inc. When Fido Service launched in 1996, it revolutionized the wireless industry in Canada. Fido's approach to pricing, coupled with a money-back satisfaction guarantee transformed the wireless handset into an everyday communications tool.
Fido continues to develop new offerings and services in the areas of voice and data transmission and wireless Internet to ensure that customers have access to the latest in information and entertainment services and wireless connectivity.
About our network
Fido operates its Personal Communications Services (PCS) on the Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) networkÛthe world's most widely deployed wireless platform. Globally, GSM operators provide digital wireless services to over one billion customers, which represents approximately 75% of the total digital wireless market today (Source: GSM Association, August 2004).
Beyond its strong digital network in major Canadian centres, Fido also offers customers subscribing to its regular monthly airtime packages access to the Rogers WirelessĂ™ GSM/GPRS network coast to coast, Canada's largest wireless integrated voice and data network. The Company continues to be a leader among North American wireless operators in international roaming capabilities, with more than 300 roaming partners in over 180 countries around the world. Fido uses smart card technology and advanced digital encryption to provide the most secure wireless connection available for both voice and data.
