Documentation and Pre-Shipment Inspection

Goods valued at US$2,000 FOB or more are subject to a mandatory pre-shipment inspection. Contact: Intertek Testing Agency (713) 475-2082; fax: (713) 475-2083. In addition, one original and one copy of the commercial invoice are required; two copies of the Malawi Certificate of Origin (available through the Malawi government); one copy of the pro forma invoice; and two copies of the bill of lading or airway bill. While not required, a packing list may expedite the clearance process.
