Macau Flag flagsoftheworld
The flag of Macau was adopted on March 31, 1993 before the sovereignty of Macau was handed over to China by the Portuguese government on December 20, 1999. The flag of Macau has a green base and a white lotus flower in the center. On top of the flower, there are five-pointed golden stars in an arched design, the middle one being bigger than the rest four. The lotus flower was chosen as the floral symbol of Macau. The water beneath the lotus and the bridge symbolize Macau's position as a port in the territory. The five-pointed stars resemble the design of China's flag and thereby show Macau's relationship with the mother country.
