Zip Zoom Training Underway

The Zip Zoom training convened on Monday, the 21st, with trainer Ellen Miyasato from Honolulu doing the training for trainers for the first two days. The training for teachers will then take place from Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Koror and GBH elementary schools were selected to pilot the software and the training is being held at Koror Elementary School lab 2.

Christmas Get-Togethers

As you all know, we decided that christmas party contribution should be $20 per person. All collections should be turned in to DPM (see Sandra) by Friday of this week. We are still to decide on a venue and time.

Zip Zoom Reading Software to be Tried Out at KES and GBH

At a meeting today, Destin Penland from the local PREL office presented the Zip Zoom software to the management team and the principals of Koror and GBH Elementary schools. Zip Zoom is a reading skills improvement software that will initially be tried out at the two elementary schools.

The software will be installed at the school sites and lab managers and teachers will be trained in January.

Palau Test Design Workshop

PREL consultants Don Burger and Jennifer Ryan convened a workshop to train grades 1-3 teachers on how to design and develop tests.

The MOE has been working hard to improving its assessment and evaluation capability. The English Program initiated a pre/post test for grades 1-3 in SY07 and this year (SY08) is implementing pre/post testing for grades 1-6. This was an oppprtune time to conduct the training, both as a means of capacity building and reviewing the SY07 test results.

Principal's Forum 071102

The principals will meet today for the whole day for a combined quarterly meeting and monthly forum.

The first half of the day will be spent on quarterly meeting business with short presentations by specialists and program personnel and discussion of issues and others.

The second half of hte day will be spent on monthly forum business.

Today's meeting is chaired by Mr. David Yamada, Angaur Elementary School principal.
