Tuvalu Flag flagsoftheworld
The Tuvalu Flag was officially adopted on 1 st October, 1978, the same year when Tuvalu became an independent nation. The Tuvalu Flag is light blue in color and bears the Union Jack, the flag of UK, in the upper quadrant on the hoist-side of the flag. The outer half of the Tuvalu Flag shows the country's nine islands symbolized by nine stars. Each of the nine stars has five points. The Union Jack in the Flag of Tuvalu represents the long association between Tuvalu and Great Britain. Like many former and present dependencies of Britain, Tuvalu's Flag is also based on the UK flag.
