Avies
Together with restitution of Estonian Republic, AVIES Air Company celebrates its birthday. November 11, 1991 AVIES Air Company was included in the Commercial Register of the Estonian Republic.
AVIES was the first company in Estonia based on the private capital, which offered air-taxi service.
Ten years ago political, economic, legal and financial preconditions for creating independent airline based on the private capital were not present. The legislation to regulate airline activity has appeared later. There were only good intentions of the founders... And the success followed. Experience and skills were brought by pilots and technicians of "Aeroflot". Today airline AVIES has taken a strong place in the Estonian aviation market, possesses a firm position in the Baltic and the Northern countries. The company owns up to date aircraft fleet and top-level pilots and technicians.
The geography of our flight activity extends every year. We outgrew national borders long time ago. Our planes fly from Mediterranean Sea up to Arctic Ocean, from Central Asia to Scandinavia. The circle of the clients using our services is very extensive.
In 2001, we have begun regular passenger flights to the western island of Estonia - Saaremaa and recently - to the Hiiumaa Island. This is a smooth extension of the charter flights flown between islands of Baltic Sea, which are especially popular during the tourist season. In this direction the market offers an opportunity for expansion for many years. In summer, 2002 the airway was opened between Estonia and Sweden en route Saaremaa -Gotland.
There is growing demand for cargo flights. The experience that we gained from the co-operation with DHL has given us a good initial position for development of the services in this direction.
Our strategic goal is powerful development of the company and active marketing policy, to strengthen and spread out our position in the regional market.
The major stages of this program are:
updating the park of the aircraft for the business-class level of services;
to restructure the organization and to improve the management according to changing situation in the European markets;
continuous development of the strategic planning and investment;
further increase in competitiveness. Preparation for an intensive competition in the regional markets of Northern Europe;
the conformity to instructions and requirement of the European Union.
