B92 was founded in 1989 as a youth radio broadcasting to Belgrade audiences and has since grown into a company which includes a regional radio and a national television network, a website and an internet providing service, a book publishing department, a CD label and Rex Cultural Center.
B92’s commitment to responsible journalism and positive social change has earned it international renown: the organization and its members have won a number of prestigious international awards for journalistic courage and advocacy of human rights. The organization is also the subject of Matthew Collins’ best-selling This is Serbia Calling.
B92’s core activities comprise its three media outlets: Serbia's fastest-growing nationwide TV station, the most popular private radio station, and the most popular internet information and entertainment portal.
B92 Television was launched in September 2000, in the spirit of the company’s media agenda. Guided by the idea to advocate and expand its established values through a another medium, B92 Television informs, entertains, educates and inspires viewers throughout Serbia.
After six years in the market, B92 Television is the fastest growing TV outlet in the country. It has managed to triple its ratings in the past four years and today ranks as third most popular station among its target audience (urban, 15-54). According to the AGB Strategic Research data, 42 transmitters today cover over 98 percent of Serbia, while 88 percent of the population receive a good quality of B92’s broadcast. B92 Television is one of the four television stations that have been issued with a national broadcasting license.
B92 Radio is among the two most popular commercial radio stations in Serbia and the leader in Belgrade. B92 Radio is available at 92.5 and 97.1 MHz in Belgrade, 103.MHz in Vojvodina, 103.9 MHz in Subotica, 102.3 MHZ in Central Serbia, 105.8 MHz in Macva, 104.6 Mhz in the wider Niš area and 105.6 MHz in Užice.
B92.Net has been the leading Serbian internet site since 1996. At present the average number of page views per day exceeds one million, while the daily average number of visitors peaks at 180,000. Alexa(www.alexa.com) ranked B92 site at number 3.305 out of more than six million sites worldwide, making it one of the best positioned South East Europe website.
The highest number of visitors was recorded on Feb. 22, 2008, when 389,936 people logged on to B92, while the highest number of page loads in one day was 2,330,281, on Feb. 18, 2008. (Source: Statcounter.
