BH Air
About Us
Founded in 2001, by Captain Ianko Ivanov as a new Bulgarian Air company, BH Air.

Since its first flight in February 2002, BH Air has been focusing on the development of a genuine 21st Century air company that will have the power to redefine the aviation standards in Bulgaria. It has always been led by innovation and forward thinking. And that is one of the secrets of BH AirÌs amazing success story.

BH Air is structured around a team of dedicated professionals who are steadily building the companyÌs reputation of being totally committed to its customers and passengers, thus maintaining exclusive safety standards and outstanding customer service Ò Service Excellence. BulgariaÌs premier private airline currently employs a staff of 250 (herein 150 flight deck and cabin crew) committed with vision to deliver sustained performance, service and growth.

BH air was set us as a private charter airline, majority owned by Balkan Holidays, BulgariaÌs largest tour operator. Its main base is in Sofia but it operates flights from all major airports in Bulgaria specializing in short in short and medium haul international flights. It has spread its network of destinations across airports in the UK, Scandinavia, most European countries, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Perhaps one of the companyÌs most staggering experience is its 2005 wet lease agreement with Virgin Atlantic, under which it launched the operations of Virgin NigeriaÌs short and medium haul domestic and international operations from Lagos. It was on the basis of these flights that the company was able to structure its new national carrier. The same project has been implemented in Sri Lanka, serving as the frame of the new national carrier, Mihin Lanka Airways. Furthermore BH Air also provides aircraft crew, maintenance and insurance for Air Arabia and Pacific Airways.

Currently, the BH Air fleet comprises A320, CFM powered aircraft. The companyÌs impressive portfolio also consists of Gulfstream G200 executive jet aircraft which operate successful VIP flights.

The airframe base maintenance, components and engines off-wing maintenance are contracted to third parties complying with the Commission Regulation (EC) ?.2042/2003, such as, but not limited to, Lufthansa Technic, TAP Maintenance & Engineering, AJ Walter Aviation and Rolls-Royce. Along with these European partners, BH Air values its business relations with Airbus Industries, CFM International, GECAS, Pratt & Whitney, Air Canada, GAMCO and with the strategic maintenance providers in the region Ò Turkish Airlines Technic and MNG Technic.

Plans for the future envisage the construction of a modern General Aviation Terminal and state-of-the-art Aircraft Maintenance Facility in conformity with the highest international standards and requirement. Aiming at the ÏinnovationÓ and ÏrefreshmentÓ of the existing aviation environment in Bulgaria, BH Air is already negotiating with some of its international partners, trying to find the optimum terms for the development of this project through a long-term strategic co-operation. BH Air is also considering relaunching long haul international flights to American and Asian destinations that were closed some 10 years ago.
In conclusion, in terms of continued airworthiness, maintenance and operations of its fleet, BH Air is a Bulgarian airline that is fully enjoying the status of the community carrier.
