BASA-press is the first independent news agency in the Republic of Moldova.


It was founded by a group of journalists in Chisinau on November 5, 1992. The Agency had become meanwhile a competent, operative and unbiased source of information about the Republic of Moldova. Its news cover all the topics of events – politics, economics, business, finances, sports.


The Agency has 20 employees.

The Agency had released the daily news bulletin "BASA-press" since its constitution (political, economic and social news).

In 1998, BASA launches a new daily news bulletin designed for businessmen and investors – BASA-business.

The bulletin "BASA-press" was divided into two specialised bulletins starting October 2000 – "BASA-general" (social-political news) and "BASA-economic" (economic news).

The website "www.basa.md" providing online access to news was launched in October 2000.

The agency introduced a new product for our market – the press review “BASA-digest" - in October 2003.

It introduced the "BASA-foto" service with online download of photos, a new product for the media market of Moldova, in February 2004.

Beginning with January 1, 2007, BASA-press offers an absolutely new product for domestic and foreign managers – BASA-manager. A daily news-bulletin, containing financial, business, economical, political news.
