The flag of Bermuda is one of the national symbols of Bermuda. The current national flag of Bermuda was adopted in the 1960s. The background color of the national flag of Bermuda is red. As a British overseas territory, Bermuda's flag features the United Kingdom flag in the upper left. On the outer half of the Bermuda flag there is the Bermudian coat of arms. The Bermudian coat of arms features, the white and green shield with a red lion holding a scrolled shield. The shield shows the sinking of the ship Sea Venture of Bermuda about one mile off the coastline in the summer of 1609.
