EVA Air
Chairman and founder Dr. Chang Yung-Fa formed EVA Air in March 1989, lifting the impeccable transportation heritage and tradition of quality service long established by container-shipping leader Evergreen Marine Corporation to new heights. Within a few months, he had placed an order with the Boeing Company and McDonnell Douglas for 26 aircraft at a purchase value of US$3.6 billion, a move that immediately got the attention of the global aviation market.

Spreading Wings, Transforming Dreams
EVA Air had lofty goals when it made its maiden flight on July 1, 1991. Today, we fly to more than 40 destinations on four continents, including Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America. In addition, carefully developed alliances with major carriers worldwide give EVA Air a far-reaching service network that benefits both passenger and cargo customers.
Innovation and Attention to Detail
Embracing the Evergreen Group's corporate culture and its encouragement of innovation, challenge and teamwork, EVA Air formed its own core values promoting safe, punctual flights, friendly professional services, and innovative efficient operations, and has flourished. EVA led the airline industry in 1992 with the introduction of our remarkable Evergreen Deluxe Class, a cabin service concept that has been adapted by other carriers around the world in the years since. Evergreen Deluxe Class has been upgraded and re-named Elite Class onboard the newly introduced B777-300ER fleet.
With the delivery of our A330-200 fleet in 2003 and the B777s in 2005, we again led the way by launching Premium Laurel Class, our new superbly comfortable, technologically advanced top class, and at the same time, unveiled Audio/Video on Demand (AVOD) systems in all of our cabins.
Making Flight Safety Our Priority
EVA uses technologically advanced flight analysis equipment such as Aircraft Condition Monitoring Systems (ACMS) and Aircraft Communications Addressing & Reporting Systems (ACARS) to track aircraft operations, engine conditions and flight performance. And we have equipped our new Boeing 777s with state-of-the-art Electronic Flight Bag systems to establish a paperless cockpit and even higher levels of safety, security and efficiency.
EVA Air's focus on flight safety has gained worldwide recognition. We have been awarded the coveted Gold Wing by Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration and are ranked as one of the world's top-10 safest carriers by Aero International Magazine in Germany.
Financial Success
EVA Air listed shares on the Taiwan Over-the-Counter market in 1999 and transferred to the TAIFEX (Taiwan Futures Exchange) market in 2001. Registered capital amounted to NT$40 billion (US$ 1.2 billion) in 2004 and capital received reached approximately NT$30 billion (US$899 million).
It is equally important to us to provide exceptional passenger and cargo services and our traffic ratio is close to 50:50. Our revenue has increased incrementally every year. Revenue reached an all time high of NT$82.65 billion (US$2.5 billion) in 2004.
The Global Future
The EVA Air fleet now includes 11 new Airbus A330-200s and for long-haul flights, four advanced Boeing 777s with eight more scheduled to be placed in service. A new slogan, ÏSharing the world, flying together,Ó coincides with the introduction of the stunning new B777s. Within the next decade, these streamlined, next-generation aircraft will be the backbone of the EVA Air fleet. They mark a new era in the EVA in-flight experience, and give passengers all the comforts of the latest cabins outfitted throughout with leading-edge systems and enhanced with the highest standards in service quality. EVA Air is soaring to greater heights to give international travelers exceptional services that exceed their expectations.
