he Ecuador Flag bears the ensign of the Ecuador coat of arms with a condor guarding it from above. The current flag of Ecuador was officially adopted on 26 th September, 1860. The Ecuador Flag is designed according to a proposal given by the South American revolutionist Francisco de Miranda. The Ecuador Flag consists of three bands of yellow, blue and red, respectively from top to bottom in a horizontal fashion. The coat of arms along with the condor is set against this background. The color yellow is symbolic of the federation of Greater Columbia. Red is the color of courage and blue stands for freedom of Ecuador from Spain.
