The Estonia Flag represents the Republic of Estonia. The national flag of Estonia that is currently in use was adopted in the year 1918 and then reinstated in the year 1990. The Estonia Flag comprises of three equal horizontal bands of blue, black and white, respectively from top downwards. The history of the colors Estonia Flag dates back to 1881 when Estonian university students adopted the colors blue, black and white to represent their fraternity. This trend was continued while designing the present flag of Estonia in December 1990. With a width to length ratio of 7:11, the Estonian Flag has the standard dimensions of 1000 by 1650 millimeters. The blue color in the flag stands for faith and the natural elements like the sky, lakes and the sea. Black stands for the suffering of the people in the past while white symbolizes virtue and enlightenment.
