BACKGROUND INFORMATION


Financial Standard of Nigeria is published by Millennium Harvest Limited. The paper was first published in 1999 to fill the vacuum in the market for financial News reporting in the country. It was formerly a weekly tabloid publication with a distribution of about 30,000 copies. It is presently published on Mondays through Fridays that circulates 60,000 copies.


The main body of the newspaper consists of between 24 and 36 pages, covering News business, annual reports and all aspects of the economy.

Each week there are 6 additional inserts covering specific areas of the economy. These are:

FS Money, which covers financial advice, money management, and investment advice.

FS Property, which looks at the property market in Nigeria. It contains practical and technical advice on buying property in Nigeria, features on new and upcoming developments and an international property section for investors looking to invest outside Nigeria.

Fs Study Right: Covering various aspects of training, schools and colleges and universities with an additional recruitment section.

FS InfoTech, which focuses on the ICT sector.

The daily publications have also introduced some other sections to further cater for the needs and aspirations of its teaming readers.




Among these are:

FS Corporate Functions section that showcases the activities of corporate organizations with a view to sensitizing the public on their activities.

FS Pension Plan that reports the activities in the sector.

Global Business that reports the world of business.

CIRCULATION AND DISTRIBUTION

Financial Standard has a daily print run of almost 60,000 with an estimated “pass on” rate of 4-5 people.

Distribution is done throughout the country with special consideration for the commercial cities, with distribution in the other main state capitals. Readers mainly comprise the government, business professionals and academics.

Copies of the financial standard are also available on British airways, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa among others.
