Gibraltar Flag flagsoftheworld
The flag of Gibraltar is actually an enlarged version of the coat of arms of Gibraltar which was first adopted as the official ensign of the country according to the orders of Queen Isabella of Castile in the year of 1502. This flag was first adopted by the modern government of Gibraltar in 1982 when the flag was designed to contain 2 horizontal strips of white and red with a castle consisting of 3 towers in the middle of the white band. The flag of Gibraltar is not a British ensign although Gibraltar is still a British colony.

The fortress does not exist in actual but is considered a representation of the fortress of Gibraltar . The people of Gibraltar regard their flag as a symbol of the country's nationalism and they are highly patriotic and passionate about it.
