The Guatemala Flag has light blue vertical stripes on either side with a white band in the center and the Îcoat of arms' in the middle of it. Though the national flag of Guatemala was adopted in 1871 the introduction of the Îcoat of arms' took place in 1968. Quetzal the national bird of Guatemala is present right at the center of the flag and it signifies freedom and liberty. The presence of weapons in the Îcoat of arms' symbolizes the power of the state to defend its independence. The blue stripes on both sides in the Guatemala flag picture represent the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea which falls on either side of the island.
