JUBBA Airways was born out a vision to offer passengers a low-fare airline across Southern Somalia. JUBBA Airways was founded on 24 April 1998. The opportunity was there but the risks were high. It needed a lot of skilful planning, business acumen and strategic thinking to put up a workable plan into action. A group of Calgary entrepreneurs, after some extensive market-sector research and analysis took on the initiative of starting a direct airline service between Somalia and the United Arab Emirates. With a growing traffic flow from Mogadishu to the favourite hub of the UAE, Dubai, a business plan soon took shape. A number of local business people were approached and full flight operations commenced within the next 30 days. The Inaugural Flight took place on 28 May 1998. This was the first direct flight from Sharjah to Mogadishu, coming after a period of seven years when the state-owned Somali Airlines had collapsed and ceased operations.
JUBBA Airways employs a team of skilled professionals and has its own leased aircraft maintained by qualified engineers. Future plans include leasing of more aircraft to handle the growing passenger demand and also to branch out to new emerging routes. With a brilliant zero accident credential to its operating safety record, the Management is ever keen on enforcing the highest safety rules across every level. Currently, a global network of JUBBAÌs Somali Travel industry representatives serves the Somali community in Europe, North America and Asia.
