KTF, established as Korea Telecom Freetel, started commercial nation-wide PCS services in October 1997 and started the era of public wireless communications services.
KTF was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records in April 2000 as the first company to record 1 million subscribers in the shortest period in the world, and was selected as the 4th company from among 100 IT companies worldwide, as well as the 1st company from among telecommunications companies in 2002 by the international business weekly magazine ÎBusiness WeekÌ.
KTF has grown into KoreaÌs representative wireless communications company through innovative telecommunications technologies such as 3G and 3.5G and a management philosophy of Good Time and Design Management. KTF has changed wireless communications paradigms introducing innovative
telecommunication technologies since starting up the era of public wireless communications by introducing its PCS service.
KTF has commercialized a 3G synchronized service and a CDMA 2000 1X EV-DO service, for the first time anywhere in the world, broadcasting 2002 World Cup football games to mobile phones and generally getting into the stride of mobile multimedia services. KTF began the era of video calling that enables anyone to talk and see the other party, by launching its nationwide HSDPA service in March 2007 for the first time anywhere in the world. In addition, KTF has introduced various Îdaily lifeÌ services such as the first interactive text information service, integrated wired and wireless services as well as a mobile payment service. KTF will continue to open up new paradigms in wireless communications.

KTF won the Korean Customer Satisfaction Award 5 years in succession and was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Korean Customer Satisfaction Awards via customer-oriented services such as 24-hours customer consultation, Good Time supporter activities, customized calling plans etc. KTF is a company that carries out its promises to its customers.
KTF is running the patriotic campaign ÎThink KoreaÌ that informs people about Korean history and culture, and also helps promote a sense of pride in being Korean. In particular, KTF is developing and running an assortment of programs focused on the youth of today to help foster leaders who can make real contributions to the country providing information on our history, country and the world. In addition, the ÎKTF Foundation of HopeÌ, a KTF employee volunteer group, is conducting various activities all around the country to give hope to children in need.
KTF has provided CDMA technology consulting services for overseas wireless communications companies such as Hutchison Telecom in Australia, Reliance Infocom in India, and Mobile 8 in Indonesia on the basis of our advanced technology. KTF has cooperated with strategic global partners on such items as joint projects with Microsoft Corp., working with members of the Asia-pacific mobile operator organization CONEXUS, to reinforce our influence in the Asian Pacific region, and has led the global mobile transaction standardization project within the world biggest wireless communications organization, the GSM Association. In addition, KTF is reclaiming overseas market share through a strategic alliance with NTT DoCoMo, next generation network standardization activities and various global business cooperative ventures based on WCDMA. In particular, KTF aims to reinforce its status as a global player by investing in U Mobile in Malaysia.
