Open contest for social projects started Mobiltel within the new program Grant M-Tel. The mobile operator starts a campaign to research projects for integration and socialization of disadvantaged people. Together with that M-Tel started activity program about short number 1788 supporting four social causes.

Mobiltel filed in the Commission for regulation of communications a Request for granting additional individually defined resource from the radio-frequency spectrum. The Request was filed in connection with the high rate of increasing the customers of Mobiltel, amounting at the moment to nearly 5 000 000, the increased traffic, the numerous new high-tech services and the further modernizing and development of the network.

Over 1,5 million in donations has given Mobiltel for charity projects in 2007. The donations were made mainly in the areas of culture, social sponsorship and healthcare. On December 18 the company was awarded by Foundation ÏBulgarian traditionÓ with a diploma for social responsibility throughout 2007.

A special safety home open its doors in the Home for mentally disabled youth ÏFaith, Hope and LoveÓ in Mezdra. Mobiltel donated over BGN 120 000 for the realization of the project.

M-Tel registered its 5 mln. client. On this occasion the mobile operator is prolonging the Christmas campaign until the end of January 2008.

The M-tel clients can already now pay via SMS also when parking in the blue zone. The system was developed together with the Sofia municipality as an alternative of the present paper talons.

The Mobiltel network is now ready to serve 5.5 million clients. This became possible after the operator put into service its eight mobile switch which is able to handle 500k mobile subscribers. It is based in Varna and will serve the Black sea area.

Mobiltel is the first to launch mobile speed of up to 7.2 Mbps in Bulgaria. This way the company doubled the maximum available speed for surfing the Internet or downloading data using the biggest mobile network in our country.

CNN, Eurosport, MTV and Cartoon Network became accessible for Vodafone live! customers as part of the TVs package! This way the M-Tel clients are able to watch them together with Fashion TV, Chilly TV and Planeta TV, without paying additional fee.

The company started M-Tel Traveller, thus becoming the first operator in Bulgaria to offer really attractive roaming tariff to its clients. Mobiltel lowered the prices two months before entering into force of the respective European regulation.

Mobiltel became the first mobile operator in Eastern Europe with a certificate for accurate assessment of the services, used by the clients. The certificate is issued by BABT (British Approvals Board for Telecommunications) and secures the invoice correctness, as the probable error is only 0,002%.

The Second Edition of the competition ÏAnnual Contemporary Art Awards of M-TelÓ gathered 45 authors with an avant-garde view on art. The exhibition took place within the Ï12th Salon Des ArtsÓ in the National Palace of Culture and stressed on the large-scale creations.

Mobiltel AD, the largest mobile phone operator in Bulgaria, confirms the agreement between Mobiltel's shareholders and Telekom Austria on a Memorandum of Understanding and exclusivity undertakings regarding a call right with respect the acquisition of the shares of the Company by Telekom Austria.

Mobiltel is very pleased with Standard & Poor's company rating of BB+. With this rating, Mobiltel has become the 2nd highest rated mobile operator in Eastern Europe and the only mobile telecom in Europe rated only one notch below its country's rating.

M-Tel Club - the M-Tel Loyalty Program was launched on October 1, 2004. It provides participants taking part in it to win points which they can exchange for prizes such as M-Tel products and services.

On September 21st, 2004, M-Tel has registered its 3rd millionth subscriber. With its 3 million subscribers M-Tel is already the biggest telecommunications operator in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian GSM operator continues to keep the biggest market share in the sector.

M-Tel subscribers are able to use services through GPRS even when being in roaming. This became possible thanks to the partnership of 22 mobile operators from Europe and the US.

Bulgaria's No1 mobile operator Mobiltel changed ownership for ƒ 1.2 billion. This is the largest ever Central and Eastern Europe deal of such a type. Among the new investors are ABN AMRO Capital, Citigroup Investments Inc., Communications Venture Partners Limited. More than 100 000 subscribers use services via GPRS.

On August 15th 2003 the system of M-Tel has registered the two-millionth subscriber of the Bulgarian GSM operator. "Who will be the 2 000 000th subscriber" became one of the most successful M-Tel campaigns. In the end of August 2003 the biggest Bulgarian mobile operator has 2 065 000 subscribers.

M-Tel fulfilled the decision of the Commission for the Regulation of Communications (CRC) and the requirements of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), for each mobile operator to have a single access code. The numbers of all M-Tel subscribers already have seven digits after 088 - the code for accessing the network of the operator.

Mobiltel gathered all divisions under one roof in the new M-Tel Campus. The new building was built in such a way which corresponds to the philosophy of M-Tel on the constant development of communications, openness and transparency of activities, creating of good work conditions and improving the qualifications of the company's employees.

For the past year M-Tel has doubled the capacity of its mobile network. This allowed to significantly improving the capacity of the network - especially in the big cities. The cases of discontinued calls are below - 1%, and the cases, in which we are incapable of establishing contact with the sought after subscriber from the first time, are below - 2%.

Roaming contracts have been concluded with 257 foreign operators from all over the world.

The Bulgarian GSM operator received the prize " Golden Portfolio " of Darik Radio. Mobil Tel becomes the general sponsor of the Soccer High League. For the 2001/2002 season the High League will carry the name "M -Tel Soccer High League"

The first millionth subscriber of Mobil Tel has been registered. The jubilee client wins an " Opel Astra " automobile and two mobile phones. Bulgaria celebrates one week along with " M- Tel ", a special team of the company organizes a lot of games with prizes during the two week tour in the country. A unique concert was held simultaneously in four cities - Sofia , Plovdiv , Varna and Bourgas . 17 groups participate in the concert and the events are telecast on bTV national television. The company signed a 10 year frame contract with " Alcatel " for GSM equipment for high-speed transmission of data by way of the network of the mobile operator ( GPRS) and the implementation of high-tech applications such as WAP services. Within two years 700 base stations in the country will be reequipped with this technology.

"Mobil Tel" presents its new logo and trade brand " M -Tel" at the International Technical Fair in Plovdiv . The company shows its services and products at exhibition stand with an area of 165 sq.m . Thirty six telephones, "Prima" packages and vouchers have been distributed to the stand visitors. Five of the guests leave for home from the final raffle with GSM sets " Nokia 9119i Communicator ". The subscribers of the mobile operator can already pay their bills as per banking channels after agreements signed with UBB and Rosseximbank . M-Tel Grand Prix is held in Sofia under the general sponsorship of Mobil Tel. For the first time Bulgaria is host of the eurhythmics competition from the Grand Prix chain.

The service "Voice Mail " was introduced free-of-charge for subscribers. The number of roaming partners increases to 245 operators from 105 countries. Mobil Tel AD is general sponsor of the XVII th edition of the "Apolonia" Arts-Festival.

A new switch was opened in Varna . The network capacity was increased by 150 000 customers. The operating conditions of M-Tel Firm and M-Tel Family have been changed, while the opportunity has been given to many more subscribers to use the preferential rates of these services. At the solemn commencement ceremony of the graduating dentist students of 2000/2001, the best graduates receive special gifts from Mobil Tel.

The new prepaid service M-Tel Prima was introduced. Mobil Tel AD concludes a 5 year contract for cooperation with IBM to the amount of $ 10 Million. A new "System for data - saving and management" is to be built. Mobil Tel AD is the general sponsor of the gala- concert of National Opera - Sofia, on the occasion of the closing of the 2000/2001 opera season. Mobil Tel supports the organization of the 50-th anniversary of the State Ensemble for Folk Songs and Dances "Philip Kutev ".

Mobil Tel AD registered its 700 - thousandth subscriber. A new switch was opened in Sofia . Mobil Tel was the first corporate client, which concluded an agreement in accordance with the new software policies of Microsoft and became the first user of the new office package Microsoft XP in the region. The company donated 20 thousand Leva to the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at Sofia University " St . Climent Ohridsky " on the eve of May 24-th celebrations.

On the basis of the decision of the Sofia City Court on the 13-th of April 2001 some changes of the structure of the firm have been recorded. "Mobiltel" AD is restructured to a sole share society with two-stage system of governing and with sole shareholder " L.L. Telecommunication.
Holding B.V. The societies "Radio Relay Systems Bulgaria " AD and "M-Tel Net" AD were joined to "Mobiltel" AD. The activation of the extra services " CLIP, CLIR, SMS, Voice mail, Conferent connection became free of charge.

Mobil Tel unites its trade representatives with the purpose of maximal guaranty of the interests of its users. The daughter firm M-Tel Trading, in which the M-Tel Plus joined, is a 100% property of the GSM operator.
Together with Capital Municipal Council and the Foundation " Future for Bulgaria ", Mobil Tel supports the opening of a new wing of the 50 th primary school " Vassil Levsky ". The company donates 50 thousand Leva .

On the 1-st of January 2001 Mobil Tel AD receives a license for using of second national code 087. At the yearly meeting of Microsoft for East Europe , Middle East and North Africa , the Executive Director of Mobil Tel Mrs. Rumyana Kyuchukova and Mr. Bill Gates discuss the opportunities for joint developments between Microsoft Bulgaria and Mobil Tel.

The clients of the company grew more than three times in comparison to December 1999. More than half a million Bulgarians use opportunities granted by Mobil Tel. As a result of the extremely successful advertising campaign, mtel.card became an indisputable hit on the market for prepaid Internet access cards.

Mobiltel reached its 450 000th subscriber. For the first time was made a promotion of a GSM phone together with one of the world's famous manufacturers - Alcatel.

Mobiltel introduced its new service - "Conference call". Mobiltel has commercial roaming agreements with 221 GSM operators from 96 countries. Mobiltel and Siemens have agreed and signed a contract for cooperation in development and implementation of third generation network - UMTS.

Five years of operting the GSM network in Bulgaria. Mobiltel reached its 400 000th subscriber. The fourth GSM switching center was deployed for further increasing the network capacity to 700 000 subscribers. The Mobiltel's information centre M-Tel Info started its operations, providing useful information to all users of both fixed and mobile phone networks in Bulgaria.
