Norwegian based MCP is offering cell phone connectivity on board cruise ships and ferries, providing global coverage through leading suppliers of maritime satellite services
Provisioning of cellular communications on board will be a prerequisite for most cruise and ferry travelers in the future, as they expect the same service on board as taken for granted on shore.
The cruise and ferry operators gain a major competitive advantage, providing cellular connectivity to passengers through their normal cell phone, phone number and subscription. Providing public cellular communication services adds a significant source of revenue by call charging. Fax, internet and data services are also offered, as well as value added services for on board marketing, promotions and information.
MCP provides the integration of solutions and offers remote shore-based network operations. Utilization of remote operations, service and support provides cost efficient and reliable solutions.
MCP will work as a ship based cellular operator, responsible for connections to land based public networks and international roaming.
MCP's strategy is to work in close cooperation with its customers, providing business models based on revenue sharing and co-investments in the shipborne infrastructure.
