MTN Swaziland

MTN is a telecommunications company and the sole GSM network operator in Swaziland. His Majesty King Mswati III officially launched the network operator in the Kingdom of Swaziland by making the first call on 3 September 1998. This came after the MTN Group had received the license to operate a GSM cellular network on 31 July 1998. Swazi MTN Limited was formed as a consortium of the Swaziland Post and Telecommunications Corporation [SPTC], MTN Group and Swaziland Empowerment Limited [SEL].

MTN has experienced unequalled growth and demand far exceeding expectations. It has radically transformed the local telecommunications industry with the provision of coverage in excess of 80% of the geographical area of the country. So far it distributes its products through its service centres in Manzini and Mbabane as well as its distribution network with some retail outlets strategically situated throughout the country.

Made up of different departments that complement each other in executing different duties, MTN has a Human Resource; Information Systems; Customer Service Operation; Networks; Marketing and Sales; Legal and Internal Auditing Departments. The corporate head office is situated at Karl Grant Street in Mbabane; the capital city.

The cellular operator has a staff complement of 89; a majority of which are Swazi nationals and they endeavour to see the vision of MTN Swaziland being the leader in telecommunications in Swaziland. With a mission of providing a universal, affordable and quality telecommunications network with a range of state of the art products and services, accessible to a broad spectrum of the population and be recognized as a responsible corporate citizen, whilst maintaining a healthy return on investment for shareholders.
