Makfax - 15 years of providing quickest way to the truth

The independent news agency Makfax is marking 15th anniversary of foundation.
It was established in December 1992 and has been broadcasting continuously news produced by its own editorial staff since May 1993.

Makfax has the distinction of being the first private news agency in the region and one of the first private media in the Republic of Macedonia.

Makfax is a regional news agency that broadcasts its news in three languages: Macedonian, Albanian and English.

The independent news agency Makfax publishes Makfaxonline, the first daily online newspaper in Macedonia.

Makfaxonline runs three times a day, seven days a week (3 x 3 x 7) in three languages (Macedonian, Albanian and English).

Makfax is a self-funding news agency and it works in line with market principles.

Makfax is presiding agency over the Association of Private News Agency (APNA) based in Skopje and
a member of the Vienna-based South East European Media Organization (SEEMO) - an affiliate of the International Press Institute (IPI). Makfax is supported by the World Association of Newspapers (WAN) and is a member of the Association of Printed Media (APM) of Macedonia.

Risto Popovski (age 60) is the founder and owner of Makfax news agency, who has spent most of his professional life in news agencies. He won the 2003 annual award for long-standing work in journalism.

Principles
The independent news agency Makfax accepts and fully complies with the principles and professional standards set out by the international journalist associations as well as with the Code of Ethics for Journalists adopted by the Association of Journalists in Macedonia (AJM).

In the course of news-making process, Makfax fully complies with:

- truth and people's rights to learn the truth
- reporting based on true data and reliable sources

Makfax fully rejects:

- discrimination and inciting intolerance and hatred among people of different nationality, race, language, religion, ideology, political or any other ground,
- distortion of truth, forgery, plagiarism, insult, slander, all types of bribe taking

Trust
Through persistent compliance with the mentioned above principles, Makfax news agency has acquired a reputation of a media that runs an unbiased, impartial and true coverage of the most important political and economic events.

Makfax has acquired commendations as an independent media free of influence from the state, political parties and related business groups.

Makfax is the first and still the only trust-worthy and nonpartisan news service in Macedonia, and it remains fully committed to continuing its work as independent agency.

Makfax co-operates with 17 news agencies in all countries throughout the region.
Subscribers to Makfax news service include practically all significant media in Macedonia and the region, as well as the Radio Deutsche Welle.
Makfax news outlets are distributed to foreign embassies and international missions in Macedonia, including prominent banks and companies.

Editorial Office
Makfax news agency is equipped with one of the best journalist staff in Macedonia.

Almost all of the current employees are journalists of medium and younger generation.

The staff also includes a number of stringers, journalists and translators.
Both the full-time and part-time employees are highly skilled and responsible professionals, freelance journalists, translators and organizers.
