Paper reading session on promoting e-library system held
YANGON, 30 July ? Organized by Union Solidarity and Development Association, Ministry of Communications, Posts and Telegraphs and Ministry of Education held a paper reading session on promoting e-library online system at the Myanmar Info-Tech building this morning. It was attended by Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Chairman Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Hla Htay Win, USDA Secretariat member CPT Minister Brig-Gen Thein Zaw, Myanmar Women's Affairs Federation Vice- President Daw Khin Thet Htay, departmental heads and responsible persons from Myanmar Computer Federation and foreign and local computer companies.
The minister spoke on the occasion e-library system was briefed through DVD presentation and wellwishers donated e-books, computers and accessories and cash including US dollars. Next, resource persons read out their respective papers on promoting elibrary online system. For those seeking knowledge of education, a website named www.elibrary.com.mm has been launched as of 10 March 2007.

Main Responsibilities of Communications, Posts and Telegraphs Ministry
To arrange communication services for smooth and easy usage by the general public.
To satisfy the communication needs of commercial, social, and administrative infrastructures.
To establish communication centers and routes in accordance with work requirements.
To monitor communication services in accordance with Laws, Rules and Regulations.
To develop relations with other countries, int'l organizations, regional organizations, and apply the agreements made.
To issue licenses and collect fees for Radio, TV, VCR, TVRO.
To conduct tests for international radio operators.
To manage and monitor radio frequencies.
To manage standard and quality of communication systems.
To conduct communications related research works and studies.
