The Nation Online evolves from the giant group, the Nation Publications Limited that produces the popular and largest circulating hard copies, The Nation and Weekend Nation in Malawi. These papers came into being when the country, Malawi was attaining a Multiparty democracy and the papers aimed at promoting and consolidating democracy through the slogan "Free Expression the Birthright of All'
