Our company is the largest provider of mobile telecommunication services and, at the same time, the largesttelecommunications operator in Slovakia in terms of the number of customers, as well as in terms of revenues. As of 31 December 2007, our company provided its services to 3,194,214 active customers. As of 31 December 2007 we achieved a turnover of 25.110 billion SKK. Our signal covers 99.6% of the population and 87.3% of the area of the Slovak Republic.
We have been operating in the domestic market since 15 January 1997 when, as the first mobile operator, known as Globtel, we began to operate a digital mobile network in Slovakia, using the GSM standard. We adopted the Orange trademark on 27 March 2002, when we joined the worldwide family of mobile operators associated by the parent company France Telecom.
To our customers, we offer the concept of a clear future in which people will be able to communicate together at any time and at any place. We mainly provide our customers with voice and data services based on the GSM/GPRS and EDGE technologies. In March 2006, we launched commercial operation of services using a third generation mobile network using the UMTS standard, while in the area of Slovakia covered by this signal, we already operate the HSDPA/HSUPA high-speed mobile data network. At the present day, this signal covers more than 50% of the population, which represents all of the towns with a population of more than 20 thousand people. Our company has recently achieved another technological milestone in its history, when at the beginning of September 2007 we put into service one of the most advanced and safest optical networks in the world, thanks to which we were able to launch commercial operation of the Orange Doma services, which are based on FTTH (Fibre to the Home) technology.
