The Singapore National Flag was formally acquired in 3 rd December of year 1959.Two parallel bands of colors comprise the Singapore Flag . The upper side band is red while the underside strip is white. There is a white colored crescent-shaped moon depicted on the left hand side of the red band of color. A number of five stars, each with five tips are depicted to the right side of the moon. The color of red stands for worldwide brotherhood and democracy. The color white denotes purity and virtuousness. The crescent of moon is there to signify the young country of Singapore on its way of development and the five stars correspond to the Singapore's principles of democratic system, growth, justice and peace.
