The first call made within VivaCell network on 1st July 2005, marked the beginning of a new era in the mobile communications sector of Armenia. In a short period of time VivaCell made the difference and brought the GSM services to every Armenian house. Cost efficiency, high performance and wide solid coverage across the country made the Company the talk of town in no time.
VivaCell spearheaded the development of the telecommunication sector in Armenia, and offered innovative mobile voice and data products and services, and tailored solutions for different market segments. Furthermore, excellent network coverage has always been the competitive advantage of VivaCell who has managed to roll-out and build a radio network all over Armenia within a short period of time, and in parallel managed to build an extensive network of service centers across the country in order to be as close as possible to its subscribers. And the best is yet to come with the benefits of the license to provide 3G services, and the recent upgrade to our network which provided a capacity to serve over 1.5 million subscribers.
VivaCell introduced a new perception for the mobile communication, which is no more a service restricted to few, but a service available to everyone. VivaCell has become the choice of remote mountainous villagers, housewives, youngsters, middle-class as well as traveling businessmen, and with more than 264 roaming partners in 145 countries VivaCell is adamant to keep Armenians in touch with their homeland wherever they are.
Additionally, VivaCell has managed to establish a substantial customer base, serving over than 1 million subscribers, resembling more than 65% of the market share. All this was due to the dedication and devotion of more than 800 highly professional staff Ò VivaCellÌs main asset. Moreover, driven by sense of responsibility and belonging towards the Armenian society, VivaCell set the track for a solid partnership between a commercial organization and society, building on the belief that we should share with our society the benefits of our investment. On 14th September 2007, and as a result of acquisition of its 80% shares, VivaCell became the subsidiary of MTS, one of the worldÌs largest multinational mobile operators. And that was the Cherry on the top of VivaCell work, as this will provide an added value to its customers in terms of more cost-efficient state-of-the-art mobile communication solutions where Armenia becomes much more integrated in the global communications network.
