Welcome to Puerto Rico
Welcome to Puerto Rico
As many of you already know my name is Magaly Rivera, born in Puerto Rico and currently living in Georgia, USA. Some of you maybe wondering why I work so hard on the development and maintenance of this web site. You will soon find out why.

I remember the first page I published about Puerto Rico, the page was plain and simple, a one page web site. It was originally created for my geography class, a paper/project about any country -nothing to do with the Internet- back when I was living in Illinois. The first idea I had about the project was to research on another country of which I did know very little or nothing about. However, I determined that nobody in my class would be able to provide a complete report about the island. Who can do it better than a native Puerto Rican? Who knew the island better than me? - Well, I have to admit that I still learning about Puerto Rico. I consider myself "a tourist in my own island" There are so many places, things to do and people to meet. Finally, I prepared and submitted my project. The results? I obtained a 100 with a note from the professor congratulating me for a job well done. HURRAY!

Soon after (early 1995), the first draft of my page was online as an intent to learn and practice HTML. As a result, I received hundreds of e-mails with corrections, thank you letters, and notes of encouragement to continue this beautiful task.

I want to give special thanks to Mr. Jose Pietri from Hewlett-Packard of Puerto Rico and to Professor Peter Y. Johnson from Technology Institute of Illinois for giving me permission to use the photos of their respective sites to complete the collection of pictures that make this site unforgettable. Ah! I can not forget a "Proyecto Coqui" in Puerto Rico for providing me with pictures and sounds files of our coqui. Also I want to thanks all the people who wanted to stay in anonymity. Thank you!
