Capitalised at BD 20 million, 40 per cent of the shares are owned by Bahraini investors, ZAIN BAHRAIN is expected to be listed in the financial markets in the first half of 2008.
The new name, ZAIN BAHRAIN gives us a single brand umbrella. This will enable us to pool our technological innovation, our marketing strategies and our network connectivity so that our customers and shareholders benefit greatly. It will also help us to focus clearly on our goal to be among the top ten global telecommunications companies within 4 years. The new brand is a first step in a new journey towards global achievements and will unite our team of more than 13,000 employees serving over 32 million customers in seven Middle Eastern and 14 sub-Saharan African countries.
Our experience in wireless network deployments has enabled ZAIN BAHRAIN to provide current and potential customers with the most extensive array of high-speed (which offers similar speeds to broadband) mobile services available today in Bahrain and in the Middle East.
With the latest acquisition, BahrainÌs national fixed wireless services license (NFWS), ZAIN BAHRAIN has recently announced the imminent launch of WiMAX technology, the infrastructure that allows the delivery of fixed, portable and nomadic voice and data services over the air. This technology has enabled ZAIN BAHRAIN to demonstrate a suite of quad-play products and services ranging from traditional voice telephony and broadband Internet services, to the latest in video telephony, TV streaming and video on demand.

ZAIN BAHRAIN the first in the Middle East to achieve the ISO/IEC27001:2005 which supports the operation of a mobile network and services, was recently recognised for maintaining and exceeding its certification for operating in accordance with the upgraded version of the International Standard for Information Security Management Systems by BSi Management Systems, an international verification, testing and certification company. The ISO/IEC27001:2005 system certification is awarded to companies which maintain the highest standard for protection of information security in their operations.
