Zambia Skyways
Zambia Skyways (formally Eastern Air) is a wholly Zambian private liability company that was incorporated in 1999 under the Companies Act. The shareholders are all Zambians.

The airline initially started domestic services with two light aircraft in 1993 by then called Eastern Air. In 1997, an 18 seater Let 410 aircraft was bought and added to the fleet. At that time the airline used to operate scheduled domestic flights to Livingstone, Ndola, Mansa, Kasama, Kasaba Bay, Mongu, Chipata and Mfuwe. In October 1999 Eastern Air changed its name to Zambia Skyways.

At present Zambia Skyways is multiple designated, and this signifies that the airline can fly to where-ever there is a reciprocal agreement signed by the authorities.

The airline has adequately furnished offices at Lusaka International Airport. Besides the office block, the facility at L.I.A includes an aircraft hangar, a passenger Lounge and reception.

The airline also operated Regional flights using a thirty-eight (38) seater Embraer 135 between Ndola and Johannesburg in partnership with S.A. Airlink. The LET410 operated the following routes:

Lusaka Ò Harare vv (4 flights per week)
Lusaka Ò Lubumbashi via Ndola ( 3 flights per week)

The airline did its own passenger check Ò in and baggage handling for these flights at the main terminal for ease of immigration and customs facilities. The work force at that time was 45 employees.

Presently the airline has resumed operations, (though, not to domestic destinations), that have included intercontinental flights to Dubai and London. The carrier has a code-share agreement with Air Zimbabwe using aircraft that consists of B767-200ER and a B737-200 or alternatively an MA60. This fleet operates as follows:

Lusaka- London vv by B767 Ò 300ER (Twice weekly)
Lusaka Ò Dubai by B767 Ò 300ER (Twice weekly) later to be extend to Mumbai India
Lusaka Ò Lubumbashi vv by B737/MA60 (Four times weekly)
Lusaka Ò Harare vv by B737/MA60 (Daily)

The future schedule will include Johannesburg, Nairobi, Luanda and Kinshasa flights.

Lusaka Ò Livingstone vv by LET 410 (Four weekly)
Lusaka Ò Lower Zambezi vv by LET 410 (Eight weekly)
Lusaka Ò Mfuwe vv by LET 410 (Four weekly)

The above flights are planned to be operated by a LET 410 that would be lease purchased for a period of six years repayment. See Statement 9.
